As of Motion v5.0, we use Shopify's new feature to add product media, including MP4 and YouTube videos, and 3D models. Follow their guide on adding media directly to in your Shopify admin.
1. Upload your video
YouTube
After uploading your video to YouTube, you will be given a link to your video that can then be used on your Shopify store. It will look like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZNzMaQ4PYA or https://youtu.be/kZNzMaQ4PYA. Copy this link to your clipboard.
Vimeo
After uploading your video to Vimeo, you will be given a link to your video that can then be used on your Shopify store. It will look like https://vimeo.com/220859711. Copy this link to your clipboard.
Note: Vimeo does not support autoplaying on mobile.

On your Shopify store, navigate to Settings > Files, click the Upload file button, and begin uploading your video file. Once complete, it will appear in the file list with a URL (link) similar to https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1729/0003/files/v2_w_video.mp4?7151069111780353242. Copy this link to your clipboard.
2. Add your video to a product
On your Shopify store, navigate to your product and click the ALT button on the thumbnail you'd like to use to represent your video. Motion will add a play button on top of the thumbnail once your video has been set up.
Paste your link into the Image alt text field that pops up.
3. Configure your video type and size
On your Shopify store, navigate to Customize Theme, select the Theme settings tab, click on Product grid and scroll down to Product video.
Enter the dimensions of your video file into the Video width and Video height fields so that Motion can show your video without any distortion or empty space. On a Mac, get your video file dimensions by right clicking on the file, choosing Get info and looking at the first line under More info.
Next, choose whether or not your product videos should be played with or without sound. Videos without sound are able to be played automatically. Videos with sound will need to be clicked to play and will also include player controls.
Note: Your width, height, and style settings will apply to all videos on your store.
